We’re excited to partner with The Compleat Angler-The East Coast’s largest fly fishing shop to offer a ‘FUN-damentals’ fly fishing course in the new Compleat Angler classroom.
Beginner Fly Fishing FUN-damentals Class
Learn the basics of fly fishing in our FUN-damentals class. All gear & tackle are provided.
Your instructor is *Bob Strassel Jr., owner and head guide of Right on the Fly-a fly fishing guide service located in Cos Cob, Connecticut.
We offer small class sizes (6 people) and individual instruction on:
- Casting
- Rigging
- Fly selection
- Knot tying
- Gear & Tackle
- Outfitting for fly fishing
Fall 2026 – Fly Fishing Fundamentals Class Dates at The Compleat Angler in Darien, Connecticut:

Interested in more classes, let us know! Private instruction and classes are also available.
Class Fee: $75.00 per person for ages 8 & up.
(Parent present if under 16. No charge if not participating)
Note: Full payment is due at time of booking.
Cancellation Policy: Cancel up to 24 hours in advance or fee is forfeited.
A free outfitting service is available to all anglers after the class.
Class size is limited to 6 people.
